Like the Thinker on his chair, traces of “thoughts”, or their spatial representation, can be found in Karam’s early works like the skull series, showing his enduring pre-occupation with thought processes and potential. From the development of his Cloud project, the cloud became Karam’s metaphor for dreams and creative thought, and the lines that he drew for his cloud became extensions of thoughts. Placing this “thought cloud” onto an androgynous body for the Stretching Thoughts series, Karam shifted the emphasis from an abstract concept to the symbolism of individual human endeavor to take their thoughts further and wider.
