Description

In 1992, at the initiative to enliven the streets of Yamabe, in Yamagata prefecture, Karam supplied a collection of his drawings of Archaic Procession elements to this village in northern Japan. The villagers pooled both resources and energy to trace out and paint these onto the roll-down shutters of their shops and houses, bringing life to the streets facades at nightfall. This represented the first intervention of Karam’s elements in a public context.
