Description
Wishing Flower was commissioned for the landscape of Zaha Hadid’s D’Leedon residential complex in Singapore, where Karam took inspiration from the petal-shaped plan of the architecture to create a work based on the wishing flower of childhood games.
Wishing Flower is situated within a large central pond, where it ‘strides’ across the water surface on its chubby, childlike legs. The cluster of petals forming its head contains traces of lines from Karam’s 1001 elements, hinting at infinite story possibilities. Capturing light reflections off the water, the sculpture creates a playful moment in the landscape.
